SCOTTSDALE — Today more than 700 nonprofits statewide will participate in Arizona Gives Day, a grassroots effort led by the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits will support local organizations.

During this 24-hour period, donations can be submitted at www.azgives.org. Participating organizations are dedicated to arts and culture, community development, health services, children and youth and animal welfare, among other categories. Last year, Arizona Gives Day raised more than $3.2 million for participating organizations.

“Arizona Gives Day is an opportunity to build awareness of the good work these nonprofits do every day across the state and to expand their reach to potential new donors and even volunteers,” said Kristen Merrifield of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits.

"The event also evens the playing field for all nonprofits, regardless of their size or whether they operate on a hyper-local basis or statewide — particularly for those that may not have the ability, the staff, or the bandwidth to take on a similar fund-raising challenge."
